Effect of incorporating different types of Sentang tree waste particle on the thermal stability of Wood Polymer Composite (WPC)

Abstract This article presents the potential use of tree waste materials such as leaves (L), branches (B) and trunks (T) Azadirachta excelsa (Sentang) in production wood polymer composite (WPC). The WPC was fabricated from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bonding matrix, maleic anhydride (MA) coupling agent, Sentang particles (L, B T) filler, prepared using twin-screw extruder followed by injection moulding machine. effects incorporating these types particle (at 35% 45% loading weight) on thermal stability were reported. chemical compositions L, T also determined their influences discussed. behaviour thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), whereas Technical Association Pulp Paper Industry (TAPPI) methods. addition filler has increased compared to virgin HDPE (without any incorporation). highest mass loss experienced HDPE.
